AMD RV870 (Evergreen) was said to hit retail in October, but the latest information indicates the launch will be delayed to November.
As you may expect, TSMC’s 40nm yield issue is the root cause of the delay, according to ati-forum.de. Though we’re inclined to believe TSMC has actually improved the yield rate, but not enough to fix the problem thoroughly.
If TSMC 40nm processing continues to be a problem, even if AMD manages to launch RV870 in October, it’s very likely to be nothing more than a paper-launch
