Nvidia Interactive Raytracing

NVIDIA has recently introduced the NVIDIA OptiX ray tracing engine, the world’s first interactive ray tracing engine to leverage the GPU.

The NVIDIA OptiX engine is a programmable ray tracing pipeline enabling software developers to easily bring new levels of realism to their applications using traditional C programming, and can be applicated in many fields including photorealistic rendering, automotive styling, acoustical design, optics simulation, volume calculations and radiation research.

AMD: Directx 11′s White Paper

Looks like AMD’s gonna be first with Dx11. I would love to see more improvements on videocards. That would drive prices lower and make gaming more affordable for everyone. =D

So there’s been rumors that when Windows 7 is released, Direcx 11 videocards will come out at the same time. And AMD has been pushing for Directx 11. So here are the improvements released so far:

  • Improved Parallelism
  • Improved Precision and Integer Processing
  • Tight Integration between Compute Shaders and Rendering Pipeline
  • Improved Ease of Programming and Better Memory Usage Efficiency
