So what’s been going on in my garden?
Well so far, I’ve been riddled with tons of fungus infections on my tomatoes because of the cold weather. So my tomatoes are pretty much dying. Only the plants that have been planted on the raised beds with better amendments have been withstanding the onslaught. And because of these diseases my tomato production has gone from minute to nonexistent. I’ve managed to get 2 ripe tomatoes out of the three plants that did have fruit. One golden cherry tomato and a “burger king” tomato. One egg tomato that I didn’t let ripen on the vine since it’s pretty much gonna suck up too much nutrition from the plant and decided to let ripen (which i doubt will happen coz I picked it too early) by itself.

Well I’ve been looking for alternate solutions for my plant problems recently. Been having lots of problems with blight and such. So I’ve been thinking abou aspirin. Aspirin is well known to help preserve cut flowers in vases for a long time now. So I got to thinking, what about using it on live plants? What would that do? So I went for a quick search and here’s what I’ve found:
“What caught my eye in the original Avant Gardener article was it said that aspirin is an activator of Systemic Acquired Resistance (SAR). And that plants, when under stress, naturally produce salicylic acid, but not fast enough and in sufficient quantities to really help them out in time. So the bugs get them, and diseases get them, and they show even more stress.
“But if you give them aspirin, it helps boost their immune system, kind of like feeding people echinacea so they don’t get a cold.
So apparently it helps their immune system. So that helps solves a lot of problems. Such as diseases and pests. That’s a big bonus.

a siling labuyo plant that gets absolutely no attention from me. it’s already 4 feet tall. sheesh. talk about getting huge. 5 months old lang yan.

sadly the birds always get to the peppers right before they ripen.
well it’s only fitting since a bird took a crap at the spot where the plant is now and there grew a pepper plant.
