Mark this as an historic moment: Never before in the history of burger reviewing has such an esteemed group of food writers been gathered to reveal their favorite hamburger joints. Epicurious asked renowned restaurant critics from around the country to identify their local hamburger heaven and describe the beef, buns, condiments, and toppings. Some combinations are classically simple (ground chuck on a bun) while others get fancy (want Kobe beef with that?). Buns range from sesame-seed to kaiser roll to rosemary-scented focaccia (nice idea, San Francisco!). Toppings are all over the map, too: There’s Gruyere cheese and Kraft American, garlic aioli and regular mayo, grilled onions and pickle chips, Bacon Bits, horseradish, and, of course, burger’s best friend, ketchup.
We made sure to cover the map: Miami, Washington, DC, Seattle, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, Santa Fe, and New Orleans. Those of you who don’t live within driving range of any of these cities can head straight to our 21 Favorite Burger Recipes slideshow, Steve Raichlen’s Ultimate Burger Tips page, or our top ranked burger recipes and try grilling up a sizzling patty of your own.

The McGangBang ranks up there in the holy pantheon of WTF. It’s a sandwich made from a double cheeseburger and a McChicken sandwich — where you put an entire McChicken sandwich inside a double cheeseburger. It’s a creative manipulation of existing menu items, and an exercise in frugality: taking two items off of the Dollar Menu and creating an entirely new sandwich for a total of $2.16. Truly, it’s a sandwich that’s more than the sum of its parts.

So as a burger lover, I was curious about how the food was in Heavy D’s. This is a place next door to Marc’s Tattoo Shop Wild Ones. I was with my friend Carlo and we haven’t had anything to eat all day. He just finished submitting his resume to this place called DAY for a job as a Graphic Artist. I wanted to check Heavy D’s out if it was any good.

I was inspired to blog about eating burgers or sandwiches since my mother had brought home a burger and some salad for me tonight. And besides I wanna finally put something on my blog category ‘food’ that wasn’t actually about what I just ate.

My dinner tonight
See the unhealthy fat in that burger seeping from the paper packaging of my brothers burger? Lovely sight isn’t it? All that fat that’s going to clog my arteries. A perfect way to ruin my diet.
