A Quick and Simple Sandwich

a little something i did with my arugula and basil:

chicken liver pate (or good old liver spread) that I made, leftover from school. shreds / chiffonade of basil (from the garden), arugula (also from the garden), aged cheddar (way different from regular cheddar), palengke tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, tabasco habanero hot sauce, a little sprinkling of salt, and alfalfa sprouts.

bread: walter sugar free wheat bread.

stick it in the toaster for a good crisping and melting of cheese.

and you’re in heaven. =D

A Nice Organic-ish Snack

Took a few leaves of some of my herbs and tried out mixing them together in an open faced sandwich. Took some sage, pineapple sage, cuban oregano, mint( java mint, pepper mint, and choco mint), basil and arugula for a sandwich I was gonna make. So I washed them up, cut everything up in a chiffonade (roll ‘em up and cut them into strips) to nicely distribute the leaves into the sandwich. Got some nice hungarian salami in the freezer and put one piece per slice of bread. Then I put the cut up herbs on top of the salami, then a few cuts of el cheapo quick melt cheese, some slices of regular grocery tomatoes and voila, a sandwich. Toasted them up nicely and then at the end a splash of extra virgin olive oil.

Garden Update 7/17/10

Well after Typhoon Basyang completely FUCKED our country up,  here’s my update:

I managed to move all my plants out of danger, thank God I grow in containers, and kept a big majority of them alive. The small trees I planted in the ground thankfully all survived Basyang’s onslaught. One canteloupe plant died. A couple seedlings I had in plastic cups and in a seedling tray didn’t survive either.

Here’s a cutting a friend of mine gave me of rosemary. It’s been in that yogurt cup for 2 weeks now. Since it’s not dead yet and it’s looking ok so far, it looks like it’ll root in a couple more weeks.
