According to IMDB that Street Fighter, The Legend of Chun Li is rated at around 4.1 out of 10. And then According to Rotten Tomatoes that this movie was a complete failure at 22%.

For those people who are expecting to see Ken and Ryu to pop up in this movie, you’re gonna be very disappointed that they aren’t gonna be there. What you see in the poster is what you get. Bison, Balrog, Chun Li, Maya, Vega, Gen, Nash, and Rose are gonna be the only Street Fighter characters that you’re going to see. Gen here was portrayed a lot younger by Robin Shou. Moon Bloodgood as Maya. Chris Klein as Charlie Nash. Neal Mcdonough as Bison (to my disappointment, he doesn’t look the part). Taboo of Black Eyed Peas as Vega. Michael Clark Duncan as Balrog. And of course the beautiful Kristine Kreuk as Chun Li.

A few gripes, I hated the Mask they used for Vega. It was HUGE. It covered up his face AND neck. No offense to Taboo, but he’s not suited for playing Vega’s part. Vega is supposed to be a pretty boy from Spain, not a Native American-Spanish Mestizo. Bison looked more realistic and less animated  for sure, but picking Nael Mcdonough as Bison was a mistake in my opinion. I already expected Michael Clark Duncan to be casted as Balrog, but he was made into a one line wonder. He could have had longer lines. Kristine Kreuk did a decent job with the action scenes, but she could have stepped it up a bit more and be a bit more hardcore with the action. Her fight scenes looked to me like they were straight out of Smallville. Moon Bloodgood’s dubbed voice sounded so not like her. Sure it was authentic but her deep bedside voice doesn’t match that squeeky sounding dubbed one. The action scenes were lacking.

Now for the good stuff. Kristine Kreuk really looked fit and toned for the movie. Moon was really hot herself. She’s gotten pretty toned since her days on TV. Chris Klein did a decent job for acting as Nash, a little animated but it’s a Street Fighter movie, the people are supposed to be at least a little bit animated. Gen was the typical kungfu master guy as he was played out to be.

Conclusion:

As you can see there really isn’t much to say about this movie. But over all I think it’s not a complete waste of time to watch. You’ll have to do a bit of fast forwarding to get to the good parts as it was a bit dragging for my taste. I’d say it’s a 4 out of 10 myself.
