So last sunday I decided to take a trip to Thyme Square since I had requested Green Hearts to reserve their one and only Camellia Sinensis plant. This was the day after I graduated from Culinary School. A little reward for myself after all those long months of training and schooling.

I kinda got lost while searching for it. lol. But I got there safe and sound. Saw the plant and it was huge for P400. At least I wasn’t buying some scraggly looking thing that they were trying to pass off as a good buy. Here it is:

What is Camellia Sinensis?

Camellia sinensis is the species of plant whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce Chinese tea. It is of the genus Camellia (Chinese: 茶花; pinyin: Cháhuā), a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae. White tea, green tea, oolong, pu-erh tea and black tea are all harvested from this species, but are processed differently to attain different levels of oxidation. Kukicha (twig tea) is also harvested from Camellia sinensis, but uses twigs and stems rather than leaves. Common names include tea plant, tea tree, and tea shrub.

I plan on trying to clone it and give it to a buddy of mine. Looks like it’s cloneable. I’ll make a quick google of it if it’s possible.

Why did I buy one? No reason, I practically have everything already. I might as well buy one. LOL.

I loved drinking tea a lot. But as it turns out, if I drink too much of it, my kidney stones will come back.

Another plant that I got from Thyme Square is Oregano Thyme!  Yeah, you read that right, it’s Oregano! and it’s Thyme! It’s a variety of Thyme that has Oregano overtones. It’s a two in one kind of plant as it were. There’s not a lot of information about this plant so I’m only pretty much repeating what’s on the label that I bought from Thyme Square.

Pretty cool looking plant. Broader leaves than regular thyme, almost has an oregano leaf like shape but grows like regular thyme. I love thyme in my food. I would love to find all the other varieties of thyme and oregano. Like golden oregano, greek oregano, Lemon Thyme, French Thyme etc.

And I love the fact that these are perennnials and will continue growing for as long as I care for them right.

Forgot to mention that I passed by Manila Seedling Bank and bought a Wormwood seedling. Wormwood is related to the herb that is used for absinthe. Which is quite psychedelic. LOL.
