So yeah, I finally got around to installing the game. First thing I saw was this dinky looking menu screen. I hated it. But what can you do? The game almost got scrapped before. To think I almost never got to play this game. Good thing Atari finally picked it up. I was looking forward to seeing these guys in action again. Specially since they assembled the old cast back together. At first when I was playing the game I thought they left out Winston Zeddemore since there are only supposed to be 4 Ghostbusters. So I was like, they left out the black guy? LOL. Then later on, after playing the game some more, he was ‘supposedly’ in a theatre watching some play or some smack like that.
The loading time wasn’t that long. It was pretty fast actually. But considering I was actually running it on my WD Velociraptor hard drive, nothing really loads forever. For regular computers, it won’t take forever. The game’s based on directx 9 so it won’t be too heavy on the hardware. It’s not really a native directx 10 game since the only thing there that is directx 10 are the soft particles.
Speaking of hardware, the system requirements:

A few screenshots of the actual gameplay:

My specs: Swiftech cooled Intel Q6600 overclocked to 3.2ghz (stock clock is 2.4ghz) thanks ching!
GTX295
4GB DDR2 1066 Ram
WD Velociraptor 300GB
Windows Vista 64 Ultimate
Xbox 360 Wired Gaming Controller for the PC
I set the game on all the max settings and I was getting a constant 30 FPS on my rig according to FRAPS. The game’s pretty much locked to those frame rates no matter what you do. It doesn’t really matter since the game plays smoothly enough. It did get up to 40-60 while I was running around or when there was stuff to evade.
Graphics overall was decent, nothing amazing. They claim it’s directx 10. But the only thing that I did see that was truly directx 10 there wasn’t the textures. It was the soft particles! That’s all there is. Okay, sure there’s some nice textures used on Bill Murry’s face and maybe Dan Ayrkoyd’s. But aside from that, directx what? It was dx9 the whole way.
I would suggest that you should purchase a Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller when playing this game, or most games nowadays. Since it’s autmatically configured for most games, you just have to plug it in and forget about it. You won’t have to tinker around with the settings anymore and you just have to play.
Has anyone noticed that the new guy (the character you’re playing) looks A LOT like a younger version of Dan Aykroyd?
So I’ve been playing it for an hour or so now. It’s not a fantastic game. I get quite nostalgic and reminiscent playing this since I was a really big fan of the Ghostbusters movie and Cartoon series back when I was a kid in the 80s. It’s pretty decent, a good enough game to play during this drought of TV series to watch and games to play. It’s a game that fans of the series would love to play and casual gamers that would wanna try out a different kind of gameplay. A playable 6.3 out of 10.

Do we gets to see boob physix? Cuz’ I think nVidia left out one important algo in their cuda.
Also, try forcing vsync off on your nvcp.. dunno. Havent played the game, but it might remove that 30fps cap (at the expense of tearing over 60fps on your 60hz native res of course)
