The version of Turtle Rock Studios

Turtle Rock was acquired by Valve so they made major changes to the game.
Personally, judging by the graphics of Turtle Rock’s version. I like theirs better, graphically. Of course I’ll never know how their version would play like. Francis looks a lot younger and bulkier and their version of Zoey in my opinion is better looking.

What Valve did with theirs:
They downplayed the graphics a little bit so that more people would be able to play it. They also made a console port of the game. They most probably changed the gameplay and tweaked it a ton.
Turtle Rock Studios was a video game developer founded in March 2002 by Michael Booth, later acquired by Valve Corporation. Turtle Rock was involved in the creation of original titles as well as the provision of consulting services to the digital entertainment industry.
Turtle Rock was most well known for their work on Valve Corporation‘s Counter-Strike franchise. Works included:
- An Xbox port of the original game
- Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, including the Official Counter-Strike bot
- Various maps for Counter-Strike: Source
- Left 4 Dead
On November 20 2006, Turtle Rock announced Left 4 Dead, a co-operative multiplayer action game. The game is built atop the most advanced version of the Source Engine to date and introduces version 2 of Turtle Rock’s AI technology, which had since been updated from the AI used for the bots in Condition Zero. The game released on Microsoft Windows and the Xbox 360 in November 2008.
On 10 January 2008, Valve Corporation announced that they had acquired Turtle Rock Studios. Valve took control of development since then.
