I’ve recently come up with a huge list of sites to ping that I’ve found over the past month ever since I started using WordPress. However, this is not a complete list nor is it accurate. I’m not sure about half of these sites if these exist. But it might as well be worth a shot. =D

You guys are welcome to add on to it just leave it by the comment section and I’ll compare it to my list if it’s not then I’ll add it on to this list.

First of all what is a Ping?

PING – Packet InterNet Groper. An Internet utility used to check the connection with another site. It repeatedly bounces a signal off the remote site and shows you how long it took to complete the round trip each time. If you get no returns at all, the site is either down or unreachable. If only a portion of the signals are returned, it indicates some trouble with the connection that will slow down performance. You can run PING software on your own system with a PPP or net account, or you can use it as a command from Delphi’s NavNet textside Utilities menu and from most shell accounts. See traceroute.

Why do we ping these sites? It’s to tell them that we’ve updated our sites and get them to crawl onto our websites and hopefully get indexed into their databases and eventually on their site.
