Globe Telecom’s Loyalty Program

Thank God I’ve been a subscriber for them for the past 10 years. I just called the Globe Hotline and talked to an agent. They agreed to my request in giving me a new phone for my next loyalty availment. In 2 weeks they said they’ll call me for confirmation for my application for the loyalty program, yet again. For the past 6 years I’ve been using the Loyalty Program so I get discounts from my monthly bills. I usually got the 10k as a discount. That basically translates 1k less every month for 10 months. But Globe will keep me locked in for an additional 2 years. My sister gets a similar thing but she gets a 5k discount, 500 a month discount for 10 months, locked in for 2 years.

I’m getting the Iphone 3GS 32GB! Yay for me. It’ll be locked to globe, I don’t mind though, since I don’t have any plans in switching at all. I’ll be locked to globe for another 2 years, again. They said I just have to add P6,XXX for the phone. They also said that I have to add P1,xxx for the 16gb version, I said to myself fuck that, I’m getting the 32gb. LOL. The agent I talked to was Nette Ferreras. She was personable enough, and hopefully I’ll get that phone call in 2 weeks if there are any available Iphone 3GS 32gb’s from Apple. I’m just praying that when I do get my Iphone that Apple doesn’t release their 4G version any time soon. =P

China’s Crazy Unending Psychoses

Everybody remembers when China actually declared this statement to the rest of the world: All Your Source Code Are Belong To Us. Then China gets scared of Massive Multiplayer Games. Then NOW China declares that Japanese Anime must be abolished, banned in their country, due to the lack of Chinese Anime in their own country. I mean really? Sure I’d be in support of being more nationalistic and all that crap. But sheesh, being so afraid of the rest of the world changing them is just insane. One country cannot stop globalization, no matter how powerful they are or how much resources they have.

Howard TV On Demand

Howard TV

First of all, I’ve been a fan of Howard since I first saw him when I was a teenage in the 90s on Betamax that  I rented out what I thought was a porno. LOL. I then saw him again on the E! channel having parts of his radio show televised and showing their antics for all to see, which was shown here locally on TV through Cable Television. Then I rediscovered his show online and redistributed on his website as an on demand kind of thing.

The wraps have been taken off Left 4 Dead 2’s funland setting, with information on new special infected, settings, objectives and…clowns.

The campaign – Dark Carnival – takes place across a variety of locations, from a hillside to a hotel to the carnival itself, where Valve promises that some of the attractions will be actually be functioning, and playable.

As far as new stuff goes, there’s a new t-shirt for Ellis, an electric guitar to use as a melee weapon, a clown zombie that’s able to call other zombies over to him and a new special infected: the jockey. Who does what a jockey zombie would be expected to do, and jumps on a survivor’s back. To ride them.

While a jockey is on a survivor’s back, the player loses control, and is usually steered away from their pals and towards a horde of zombies.

Nvidia and ATi Readying DX11 Ready Cards

According to Digitimes, the two major GPU makes are already readying the next generation cards that’ll be capable of DirectX 11. The said cards will be available by the end of the year.

Nvidia’s GT300 series cards will be done by end of this month and will be ready for shipping by December of this year.

With the ATi’s 5800 series will also be done by around the same time Nvidia’s GT300 series, but they’ll start shipping 2 months earlier which is around October. A little too fast. As usual trying to catch up to beat the competition.

This’ll pretty much mean that price drops are coming. Upgrades are coming. Time to save up. LOL. I ain’t upgrading my GTX295 anytime soon. I’m still saving up for an i7.

PS3 Slim Faster with Firmware 3.0

Now that people have been ranting about why the Slim is slower even if Sony claims it’s faster than the Phat, they’ve released the new firmware which takes advantage of the so-called “faster processor” on the Slim that’s made with the new 45nm process.
I just hope playing games with this will be better, not that it matters to me. I still don’t have any of the current gen consoles. LOL.

Computer Technology Updates

6 Core “Thuban” by AMD

AMD is planning to create a desktop implementation of its Opteron “Istanbul” monolithic six-core processor. Codenamed “Thuban” (named after a star in the Draco constellation, which means Dragon), the new processor will be based on the socket AM3 package for compatibility with existing and future desktop core logic. It features six cores, 9 MB of total cache (6 x 512 KB L2 + 6 MB L3). Thuban is aimed to make for AMD’s high-end desktop processor, as the company prepares to face competition from a near-complete lineup of processors based on the Nehalem/Westmere architectures from Intel. It is expected to be the posterboy for AMD’s “Leo” high-end consumer desktop platform that succeeds its current Dragon platform.

Some of the key components that make up AMD Leo platform are the upcoming AMD 890FX and 890GX chipset, companion SB800 series southbridge chips, and members of AMD’s Evergreen family of DirectX 11 compliant graphics processors. On the software front, AMD will give its Fusion and Overdrive utilities some big updates. The SB800 series southbridge chips will feature native support for SATA 6 Gb/s and USB 3.0; connectivity is further enhanced by integrated Broadcom MAC Ethernet interfaces. While the Leo platform is expected to launch almost simultaneously with the 8-series chipsets, the six-core Thuban processor on the other hand comes later. It is due only in Q3 2010. Thuban will have come out an year after its enterprise implementation in the form of Opteron “Istanbul”.
